1. Entrance Song 

• Objectives: Today we will

  • • • Recognize that pitches go up and down like steps

        1. on pitched percussion instruments, and 

        2. on a piano keyboard.

      • Review steps on the glockenspiel 

      • Play skips on the glockenspiel

• Pick Concert Masters

• SCORE Entrance 

• Introduce Steps and Skips  (use the music on the board)

  • • • Have 1 student from each carpet get 1 or 2 glockenspiels from the small brown boxes on the wire rack by the door for his/her carpet. (each person shares 1 with the person sitting next to them - move kids around till everyone has a partner.)

      • Explain steps using the system on the top. Have them play the notes to the track below.

        1. Notes going from space to the next line or line to the next space are STEPS.

        2. Notes going from space to the next space or line to the next line are SKIPS.
